Queen of the Night

July 29th, 2008
I had just finished some last minute printing on the night before our local Fuchsia Show and Susan was locking up the house at midnight when she saw a flower blooming on our ‘cactus’ plant. I apologise to fuchsia purists but the following two hours were amazing as watched a flower Bloom and then Die. It produced the most amazing flower, the size of a dinner plate, truly White and with the most amazing Aroma.

I wonder how many of these bloom daily and are never seen by a human eye?

It was amazing and yet very sad to think of the energy expanded by this plant in producing this amazing display that I was lucky enough to witness.

So are our efforts in vain?

User Registration

February 16th, 2008

We have been having some attacks by undesirables joining the forum so I am vetting all new users when they register until I have setup adequate safeguards.
The login steps are the same but you will be informed that you will receive a confirmation email when your registration is set up. For users in California who register after 2 p.m. you will not hear until the following day (because I am 8 hours in front of you and will be in bed until midnight your time)

I hope to sort out the safeguards soon as it would be better to accept user registrations immdiately.

Thanks

Tony

AFS Articles

December 13th, 2007

At present the Articles can be viewed on the screen and are presentable; however if we introduce hundreds of articles (not beyond possibility) then the present structure is very limited and will soon become unwieldy. Read the rest of this entry »

AFS Forum

November 29th, 2007

As I see it one of the aims of the Forum is to encourage members to take an active role in the Forum and maybe to take on the roles of mediating the various subjects which are set up. e.g. if a member knows about a particular subject like photography or Pests and diseases then they would eventually rise to the top and take on those subjects.

At the moment we are open to suggestions that will make the Forum interesting, enjoyable and useful to the members
